SmartCask™ is provided by Checkpoint, powered by SmartLinks Technology. This policy explains how we handle personal data when you visit smartcask.app or use the SmartCask platform.

Website visitors: basic technical data such as browser type, pages viewed and approximate location, used to keep the site running and understand usage.

Platform customers: account details (name, work email, company), and the cask, fill and ownership records you choose to store.

Cask records follow three tiers: Public Data visible on scan, Proof Data transferred to a new owner on sale, and Private Data visible only to the current owner. We never sell your data.

To provide and secure the service, meet legal obligations (including HMRC and Scotch Whisky Regulations record-keeping), respond to enquiries, and improve the platform. Our legal bases are contract, legal obligation and legitimate interests.

Trusted suppliers who host and operate the platform on our behalf, under written data processing agreements. Where data leaves the UK or EEA, we use approved safeguards.

Account data for as long as your contract runs plus any period required by law. Cask history is kept for the life of the cask so its provenance stays verifiable.

Under UK GDPR you can ask to access, correct, delete or move your personal data, or object to how we use it. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
